“Here’s Your Sign”

Speaking of things stuck in one’s head, how about that comedian from a few years ago and his monologue on “Here’s Your Sign.” Why did that particular piece come to mind while I’m digging into John 6.22-59?  I’m glad you didn’t asked.

Some of the crowd that enjoyed being fed until they were satisfied, cross the Sea of Galilee in pursuit of Jesus.  They find him in Capernaum.  What do they want of him?  What do they ask?

“So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?” (John 6:30, ESV)

Bob Utley comments: “It must be remembered that this group had just participated in a miraculous feeding of the five thousand. They had already had their sign!”
